7th International Forum of Design as a Process: Design and Territory
Deadline for papers: 25 October 2019 / The event will be held 25-27 March 2020 in Cali, Colombia
The main topic proposed for the 7th International Forum of Design as a Process is Design and Territory, focusing on the appropriation made by the communities, their identity and relation with their environment. In the territory, the local, the regional and the global are overlapping resulting in different forms of perception and assessment that can be metamorphic and conflicted. The conflict is part of nature and life, it is the result of the relationship between single persons and the community; it is not a negative fact in itself that must be eliminated, but it is a different view which requires to be studied and analyzed. It´s also a potential catalyst that boosts transformations that otherwise would take long time.
Thinking about the interrelation between the multiple dimensions of conflict and design, it will also address the great challenges existing in the diverse territories: from social and economic inequality, the dramatic environmental changes, the processes of identities and its populist ravings, the migrations (cross-national, rural to urban sectors, intercity, etc.), from the aging of the population and the cultural transformations to the equity and gender identity among many others.
The Technical Scientific Committee of the 7th International Forum of Design as a Process is inviting designers, architects, artists, engineers, humanists, and similar, to be part of Design and Territory, which is an academic space dedicated to reflect on the emerging practices, processes and the projects of design, applied and enforceable in the solution of conflicts in different territories.
The organisers welcome case studies, design proposals, scientific and technological research projects, review papers, discussion papers and theoretical considerations to get to know, discuss or adopt different approaches, practices and processes of design regarding City, citizenship and Public Policy, the rise of New Ruralities, the discussion on Identity and Culture, or the acknowledge of spaces for Activism and Involvement.
Papers of the Latin Network for The Development of Design Processes are read in more than 15 countries. That is why short articles, not longer than 20,000 characters including spaces (excluding bibliography) in English language, are expected for submission.
