Horizonte 2020

The last calls of the Work Programme 2018-2020 of Horizonte 2020 were published on 2 July 2019.

You can find in the attached table some indicative calls with international cooperation as priority. These particular calls are specifically open or focusing on collaboration with the Latin American region or specific countries of the region, like Brazil and Mexico.

Horizon 2020 is the Research and Innovation (R&I) Framework Programme of the European Union.
Priorities of this work programme aim at addressing main concerns by citizens and focussing on impacts. This programme also includes actions, which ensure a smooth transition towards the possible R&I agendas and structures in Horizon Europe.

In line with the findings presented in the Interim Evaluation of Horizon 2020, the third work programme 2018-2020 incorporates several of the lessons learnt. These Calls provide a final opportunity to develop possible underexploited potentials of Horizon 2020. Measures have been taken in all work programme parts to facilitate international cooperation, including flagship initiatives of large scale and scope on topics dedicated to international cooperation.

The Horizon 2020 programme is open to the world, but some calls target specific geographic regions. The attached table contains calls for 'international cooperation' as a priority, with filtering on geographical areas that includes: ALL (all countries) and Latin America.

Short- and long-term mobility of researchers both ways is an important driver of the EU-LAC research and innovation cooperation.

Individual researchers from all Latin American and Caribbean States can take part in mobility programmes under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions scheme (MSCA). LAC researchers may also apply for the European Research Council (ERC) grants, which are for the most ambitious and highest quality researchers.

LAC individual researchers, including from Brazil and Mexico, are fully eligible to funding under MSCA and ERC.
