MAX PLANCK TANDEM GROUPS IN COLOMBIA
- in Biological Diversity and Chemical Approaches for Therapeutical Applications (two groups at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá)
- Development of metabolomics in life sciences (one group at the Universidad del Valle, Cali)
We are seeking candidates for the position of the Principal investigator (PI) with the title of MAX PLANCK TANDEM GROUP LEADER (MPTGL). The candidate must be at the beginning of a successful scientific career and should have at least three years of postdoctoral experience, and be highly motivated to develop and carry out a competitive research program on the international level.
Responsibilities: Other than the research activities, responsibilities include high-impact publications and the supervision of postdocs, students and technicians. Solid, sustainable ties of collaboration will be developed between the Tandem Groups within their host institution and other universities and research institutes in Colombia, and the Max Planck Institutes that are part of the Agreement.
Salary: The salary of the position is highly competitive according to local standards. Additional funds will be allocated for staff, supplies and research equipment. The successful candidate will be appointed initially for five years with the possibility of a two-year extension following an outstanding independent external evaluation.

Deadline for registration is July 4th, 2017. A committee formed by experts form Max Planck and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia will evaluate the written proposals. Short-listed candidates will be invited to a selection symposium in Bogotá, Colombia, from 27 to 29 of September 2017. At this symposium they will have the opportunity to present their research (20-30 minutes) and will be interviewed by the selection committee.
