[Seminario Línea de Matemáticas grupo GAUNAL, 2do. sem. 2016] «Simplified dynamical model of power system: Automatic Voltage Regulator and Turbine Governor Models» / «An optimal planning tool to operate energy retailing companies»

La línea de matemáticas avanzada para el control y los sistemas dinámicos del Grupo de Automática de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Gaunal) de la Facultad de Minas de la UN sede Medellín invita a las exposiciones:

Simplified dynamical model of power system: Automatic Voltage Regulator and Turbine Governor Models

In order to evaluate hierarchical control strategies based on predictive control applied to voltage profile regulation of a power system is necessary to obtain a simplified model of network components. These dynamical models are represented through a set of differential and algebraic equations, which should be simultaneously resolved for each time instant through some particular technics.

In this presentation is particularly discussed the mathematical models representing dynamical behavior of two most important regulators in a synchronous generator: the Automatic Voltage Regulator and Turbine Governor. In the same way, the most accepted mathematical models of turbine complementary equipment required for production of electric energy with a generator are presented.

An optimal planning tool to operate energy retailing companies

Considering high uncertainties related to long term forecast of energy prices, this presentation explores the use of a hierarchical management strategy as planning tool for energy retailing operation, a generation expansion problem (GEP) solution is used as energy sources to replace traditional forward agreements in the market clearing operation including alternative generation. This planning tool allows to retailing companies to optimize their operation and to forecast their cash flow avoiding to rely in spot market prices as underlying assets.
