For over 130 years, Johnson & Johnson has championed women, providing them with the tools, resources and opportunities they need to succeed both at work and home. Today, Johnson & Johnson continues to strive generating and promoting next generation of female leaders and innovators. 

To support this purpose, Johnson & Johnson WiSTEM2D (Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing, and Design) has established the new Scholars Award – 3 Minute Communication Challenge. This award recognizes female graduate students and postdoctoral fellows for their excellence in communicating their research to a general, non-scientific audience. 

The winners of this award will receive a monetary prize as well as one-on-one mentorship from Johnson & Johnson to support their scientific and professional development. Furthermore, both the winners and the participants will have the chance to attend to a Virtual Career Panel hosted by Johnson & Johnson to discuss career development and facilitate professional networking.

Eligible applicants are female graduate students or postdoctoral fellows who actively conduct research in a STEM2D field at the time of application. 

Applicants may use a single PowerPoint slide related to your research. The slide must be very easy to comprehend and must not contain exhaustive text and data. They must record your 3-minute speech using PowerPoint. Your face must be seen in the video for it to be eligible for judging.

To record your 3-minute speech, open your slide in PowerPoint, turn on your camera, click on record at the top right and start your speech after the countdown. This would position your video recording to the corner of your slide. You can then save your slide which contains your recording and submit it to a Johnson & Johnson portal that will be communicated to you later as we get closer to the application start date.

Global applications for the Johnson & Johnson WiSTEM2D Scholars Award – 3 Minute Communication Challenge will be accepted from 8 July to 19 July 2024.
